What we offer:

APHL offers conferences that address the full spectrum of public health laboratory topics, newborn screening and genetics, food safety and infectious diseases. 

Webinars bring quality continuing education to your screen and span a wide range of public health laboratory-related topics. Most APHL webinars are free and some provide continuing education credit.

Packing and shipping training resources are available to member laboratories to meet the requirements outlined by IATA, ICAO and US DOT 49 CFR regulations. 

Laboratory workshops and virtual seminars combine lectures, discussion and state-of-the-art laboratory exercises to provide a hands-on learning experience. Virtual seminars are delivered via electronic communication tools. Workshops are in person learning activities. 

On-demand Training Opportunities

APHL’s online training options make it easy to learn without leaving your workplace. On-demand courses are available anytime, anywhere—allowing you to learn at your own pace. Unless specified otherwise, our online training activities are available free of charge and frequently offer P.A.C.E.® laboratory training contact hours.

Professional Acknowledgment for Continuing Education (P.A.C.E.®) is a nationally recognized quality assurance system for continuing education programs serving clinical laboratory professionals, benefiting both education providers and program participants.

APHL’s ColLABorate Online Communities provide an opportunity to connect with others working in the same field or with similar areas of interest. Email us to learn more about joining one of our communities:
  • Training Partner (TrP) Community
    A forum for connecting laboratory trainers and workforce professionals from governmental laboratories. Members can post questions/answers, access resource materials and interact with others in the community about training, education and outreach. Receive information about biannual Training Partner national calls. Visit our Training Partner Connection page and submit a Training Partner Connection request to join the ColLABorate Community.
  • Public Health Laboratory Bench Scientist Community
    Support career development and growth, to gain a stronger understanding of the public health professional identity, to engage as part of the larger public health laboratory community and to have access to available resources, including advice and knowledge from experienced members, such as supervisors and directors. Email a request to join the group.
  • Lab Director Board Exam Boot Camp Community
    A forum for individuals interested in pursuing director level positions within public health laboratories, and particularly in taking one of the Board certification exams. In this forum, a panel of Board-certified laboratory directors, subject matter experts and other volunteers are ready to answer your questions, provide advice and guidance, or suggest additional resources related to leadership positions and board certification requirements.
